Opera for EVERYONE - for you and your child
Children need art as much as air, food and love. As a parent you might not notice symptoms of an art deprived young person right away, since the child is less likely to end up in the hospital on a life supprt than a child that is food deprived. The effects of cultural starvation are not that dramatic and swift.
However, there is this hunger, inner urge for something more in your life, the innner pleasure that if not nurtured, might leave your child with an empty soul and regret, or even depression in their adulthood.
OPERA IS THE CURE
or at least one of the them
We must understand that with stories, poetry, paintings, dance, and music children
will get better understanding of the world around them and will have skills to appreciate
the inner beauty
How do we introduce the opera then?
1. Start early - bringing your little ones to recitals and concerts - often free, or to museums and galleries- often free or discounted with a library pass.
You may make it onto a whole show by doing each other's hair, nails, ties - dress up and get fancy!!! Karl Lagerfield once said - "One is never overdressed!:
2. Introduce opera through commercials:

3. Prepare your child and stir up the excitement
Read the synopsis together, look up the costumes, the era and the history behind the particular opera. Listen to some of the music prior by different opera singers. Let your child vote and pick their favourite version. Dress up and make it fun! This is true family time.
